Hungry? Why Wait? Wait for the check, that is! According to an article published by Business Insider, Applebee’s is catching up with the times. They’ll be implementing tablet solutions in every one of their locations by the end of 2014 that will remove a major pain point for their patrons — waiting for the check. Applebee’s customers will be able to pay at the table and be on their merry way.
Applebee’s Just Killed The Most Annoying Thing About Eating Out
Notice I said they’re simply catching up by implementing such technology. Mobility isn’t just the way of the future; it’s the way of NOW.
These kinds of implementations are disrupting the status quo all over the hospitality industry. If you’re not thinking about how the use of tablet technology can positively impact the experience you’re providing to your guests, you are doing it wrong. Not only that, but I can assure you that your competitors ARE thinking about it (and many of them are DOING something about it).
We humans are busier than ever. We have more distractions than ever. We need to be empowered with solutions that allow us more control. If businesses expect to meet the full spectrum of demands from consumers today, these kinds of technologies must be offered in conjunction to a commitment to provide positive in-person experiences. One of the two is no longer enough. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the hospitality industry cannot afford to be afraid of mobile technology any longer.
It’s great to see big brands rolling out mobility solutions, but I’m more excited to see the birth of organizations committed to making these kinds of tools available to small, mid-size and independent operators. Business operators now have advocates to partner with for successful implementation of mobile technology within their establishments. Now every business has access to the kinds of technology their competitors/big brands have used to differentiate themselves, but ultimately it’s the patrons of these businesses who truly come out ahead… and that’s really what it’s all about!
What are your patrons least favorite parts of doing business with you? In what ways can mobility transform these parts of their experience?
Aside from the positive influence on guest experience, how else might your business win from the use of tablets and other mobility solutions?
